The Parks Branch will be continuing its weed control program on the morning of, Wednesday, June 8th at 5:00 am
The following parks will receive the application of the Par lll herbicide if weather and wind conditions are favorable:
Neil Wagner Park, Linda Schaefer Park, Rick Unger Park, Larry Nelson Park and Larry Erber Park.
Signage will be placed at the entrances to parks where spraying is or has taken place.
The herbicide used to control weeds is called Par lll. Par lll is able to selectively target broadleaf weeds while not harming any other plants or turf. This herbicide is used on all athletic fields and surrounding areas, parks, and Central St. boulevards.
Par III is made up of 3 active ingredients: mecoprp, 2.4-D and dicamba; all 3 of these substances have been approved by the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) of Health Canada. PMRA has determined there is no evidence these substances are harmful to humans, animals, and the environment when used responsibly in the manner they are intended for.
