Yes, only if you are in the R2 Residential Zoning District. You must first apply for discretionary use. Please contact the Planning and Development Department stating your request for a secondary suite, along with a site plan which outlines on-site parking, building/suite plans, and elevation drawings.
As secondary suites are considered a discretionary use, final approval will be made by City Council during a regularly scheduled meeting.
The City of Warman reserves the right to charge double the permit fee for work started without the required permits. If permits have not been applied for, the City of Warman may put an order on the property until the proper permits have been applied for.
No, the city is not responsible for marking your property line. In newer areas pins will be located at the corners of the lots. A metal detector is available to borrow by contacting (306) 933-2388. A registered surveyor may be necessary to locate and mark the property boundaries.
Please contact the Planning and Development Department. The City of Warman allows access to public parks for construction purposes through a simple agreement and a deposit. Once the work is finished and the park has been checked for damages, your money will be refunded.
The owner is always responsible for permit costs, not the applicant. If a property has an outstanding permit and gets sold, it is the responsibility of the new owner to complete the permit process.
