Updates Regarding Indoor Recreational Facilities

As part of its Re-Open Saskatchewan plan, the provincial government has announced that as of July 6th indoor recreational facilities can open. The Warman Recreation and Community Services department has been establishing re-opening plans using a phased-in approach based on demand for each of the different indoor facilities.

The Legends Centre, which is a major facility that hosts several user groups, will commence bookings for group activities looking for space. The arena is scheduled to open on August 4th based on demand for the service. Bookings for the multi-purpose rooms begin July 6th and will operate within the provincial limited capacity guidelines and with physical distancing in effect. The board rooms will remain closed for the present time to ensure physical distancing is achieved in the administration area of the facility (reviewed on a regular basis).

The Brian King Centre opens for rentals on July 6th.

The Diamond Rodeo Arena will remain closed until September 18th.

"We know how important these facilities are to our residents,” says Mayor Sheryl Spence. “We have been planning for the opening for some time now, and have had the facilities cleaned and ready to open once the provincial government provided a date. We now have that date and can start scheduling the utilization of the Legends Centre as quickly as possible.”

With the opening of the indoor sporting facilities, there are several guidelines that must be adhered to, which includes physical distancing of two-metres and no groups larger than 30 people. There are also guidelines established for league play and regulations around different sports where distancing may not be able to be achieved.

“Lots has changed and lots will change as we open up the indoor facilities,” says Program Manager Coralie Bueckert. “However, we look forward to opening our recreational facilities to the public in a phased approach, making sure we protect the safety of our users, spectators, and staff.”
